Mickey and I had a date night last night. The girls were excited to have a sitter come over and we were excited to get out on a date. We decided to go to The Melting Pot which was a rare and wonderful treat for us. We haven’t been there in probably four years or so. It was nice to go back again last night. We thought about just doing cheese and chocolate, but we decided to go for the meal since we were hungry. It was delicious! We started with their cheddar cheese fondue which was so good! The cheese was brought out with bread cubes, Granny Smith apple slices and some raw veggies. My favorite was the apple slices with the cheddar. YUM!! After the cheese course, we had our salads. I went with their Caesar and Mickey went with the Chef’s salad. I hadn’t had their Caesar before and it was very good. They put pine nuts in their Caesar salad and the pine nuts have been roasted and rolled in sugar. It’s very different and very good!! For our main meal we had chicken, shrimp, cedar plank salmon and two cuts of steak. (Mickey, of course, ate all the steak) In addition we had potatoes, squash, broccoli and mushrooms. Fantastic! Of course, the best was last – the chocolate fondue dessert. We had their classic which is chocolate with chunky peanut butter melted together. Heavenly!! The items we had for dipping with the chocolate were strawberries, bananas, Rice Krispie treat pieces, marshmallows rolled in Oreo crumbs, marshmallows rolled in graham cracker crumbs, pound cake pieces, brownie pieces and a slice of cheese cake. My goodness, it was all fantastic! We left there positively stuffed and happy!!
After dinner, we were too full to do much of anything except walk around somewhere. So, we decided to go to CostCo. (Big night out, right?! Ha!!) It was actually fun just walking around and hanging out together. We got to OOOH over some amazing high-def televisions. I will admit that I don’t see the big deal about high def, usually. I mean, it’s a bit better, but I’m okay with what we have. However, last night we saw a Blu-Ray movie playing on a high-def TV at CostCo and all I can say is WOW. Now I see the big deal. But, so far I’m only saying that about Blu-Ray. We picked up a few items we needed at CostCo and headed home.
It was a great date for us. We almost never go to Melting Pot because it’s somewhat spendy and we try to be frugal. I will say that it was really nice to go there last night and treat ourselves like that as a rare and special treat. We likely won’t go again for awhile, but that’s okay because we’re still full from last night anyway. (lol)
