Last Monday, I posted a list of some of the random things I am thankful for in my life. I like that idea for Mondays. And, for that matter, I may use it again before next Monday. We’ll see. As I said before, the randomosity of my life is worthy of thanks.
I am thankful for…
- The comforts of home. Now that the weather has gotten cooler, I am especially reminded that not everyone has these comforts that I often take for granted. I am quite fortunate to have a home that is climate-controlled, has running water, appliances and other things that keep us all comfortable every day.
- Photographs. Since we have had digital cameras for basically all of our married life, I have taken literally thousands of pictures. I haven’t printed nearly as many as I should, but I have the pictures all stored in several different places for safekeeping. I love the memories that photographs bring.
- Our cat, Dasher. Dasher was a rescue kitty that my step-mom Dorothy (aka MiMi) found for Santa to bring Macey in 2008. He is such a great cat. He is easy going and loves to be around us, without being all up on us all the time. Dasher is a long-haired orange tabby and is a seriously pretty kitty. He has been a great addition to our home and family.
- DVRs. I’ll be the first to admit that I am not a night owl. There is no way I’m staying up to watch tv shows that come on at 10pm. Not happening. So, I am thankful that we have DVRs to record and store these shows so that I can watch them in the light of day.
- A great neighborhood. Our neighborhood is an older, established subdivision. There are lots of wooded areas around and we’ve seen wildlife from pesky (but cute) chipmunks to opossum to deer. It’s not only a pretty neighborhood, but a friendly one too. We have some really great neighbors and I am also thankful for each of them.
- My SUV. Sure, it’s a gas guzzler, but it’s also a great vehicle. My poor SUV has even had a tree fall on it and has had some crazy extensive repairs from that, but it’s still a great automobile. “Big Red” has three rows of seating and is great for family trips and play dates. I used to be a mini van mama, but I am now happy to have my trusty SUV.
- A good sangria. Now, before I go sounding like a lush, let me just say – I am not. But, I do like a good sangria. There are some restaurants that have some tasty versions and I’ve recently started making my own. MMM! So good!
- Dancing. Whether it’s a crazy, fun, spontaneous dance party at home with the girls or getting my groove on at a party or wedding, I do love to dance. Dancing is FUN. You don’t even have to be good at it for it to be fun. Just get out there and enjoy yourself.
- Bonfires. Sure, I’ve already been thankful for our backyard. But, this is specific to bonfires. There is just something about a fire in a fire pit. I love it. I love the smoky wood smell, I love the crackling, I love being around the warmth of a good fire — it’s just great.
That’s today’s list. As I said, it likely won’t be the last of such lists. I love thinking of things to be thankful for, honestly. There is ALWAYS something in EVERY day for which I can be grateful. This is just a great reminder of that. 🙂
Have a great day,
Kelly
