When I started writing these thankful posts back on November 1, I mentioned that these thankful posts were in random order. I just wanted to reiterate that because today’s thankful post would be right near the top if I were ordering them.
I am thankful for my family.
I truly believe that family is one of the greatest blessings of my life. How blessed am I that I was born into a great family, married into a wonderful family, belong to an amazing church family and have lifelong friends that are part of my extended family? Those blessings extend beyond my ability to give proper thanks, honestly. I just know that I am, in fact, blessed.
Family thanks…
- Naturally, my thankfulness starts right here at home with my immediate family. Mickey, Macey and Mariana make my life complete and give me a sense of purpose in this world.
- I have posted once, but it bears repeating that I am so thankful for my parents. All four of them. I said it before, but I do think it took a village to raise me. 😉 I love you all. (And we miss you, Poppie.)
- I am thankful for in-laws that have accepted and loved me since day one. I love and respect them both! Scott and Linda, I am also grateful that you raised Mickey to be the man he is today.
- I am thankful for my brother and his family. Charlie and his wife Liz have a son, our nephew Jackson, and are expecting twins (boy/girl) after the first of the year. I am so happy that my “little” brother married the love of his life and that they have such a beautiful growing family of their own.
- I am thankful for my step-sister, Whitney. She’s been my little sis since she was young and I am thankful that we have become sisters and friends.
- I am thankful for Mickey’s sisters, Julie and Heather, and their families. Julie and her husband Adam have two sons, Connor and Logan. Heather and her daughter Zoie now live abroad since Heather was re-stationed with the USAF. We don’t get to see them often, but we love them all and enjoy getting to visit with them when we can.
- I am thankful to still have my grandparents. I know how fortunate I am to be in my late 30’s and still have living grandparents. They are treasures to our family.
- I am thankful for our aunts, uncles and cousins. Even if we don’t see one another much, we are always family.
- I am thankful for extended family. We have relatives all over the country and, again, even if we don’t see them often, it’s nice knowing we have them all as family.
- I am thankful for my friend Sammi who is my lifelong friend and the sister of my heart.
- I am thankful for our closest friends who are extensions of our family. These are the friends we can call any time and know, without hesitation, that they will be there. And, it’s mutual.
- I am also thankful that we have church family at Piedmont Church.
That list isn’t nearly complete. I didn’t name every name of every person that I am thankful for in my family, but please know that I do value and appreciate every member of our family, extended family and friendship family.
I thank my God every time I remember you…

I am thankful for you too, Kelly. We were so much alike and became friends really quickly in 7th grade…remember cleaning the classroom after school and driving Mrs. Smith crazy? I don’t have words to express how thankful I am for your friendship….like you said, We are sisters of the heart and I know that you and your family will always live in a special place in my life…Love you!
